Garner Quilt Pattern / Ruby Star Version

Garner is a FAT QURTER FRIENDLY or scrappy quilt pattern in SIX sizes; (crib, lap, throw, large throw).

Use 5, 6, 13, or 18 fat quarters plus background to make this quilt. The pieces are large so the bulk of the fabric print is visible.

Scraps from the fat quarters can be used for an optional scrappy binding.

There are NO SMALL HSTs to cut and trim!

The scrappy version is made using the “stitch and flip” technique which produces optional “bonus” half square triangles (HSTs).

After making my 72” square version I had all these bonus 2-3/4” HSTs as “trimmings”.

So what’s a quilter to do with 144 adorable HSTs? Make a coordinating wall quilt, of course!!

I chose a selection of Ruby Star fat quarters for this piece and paired them with a Kona Solids Snow background.

Fabric requirements for the large throw size are listed in the graphic below.

Fabric requirements for all the sizes are in the table below.

The Inspiration Behind the Design

Not surprisingly, it was inspired by a farm implement; this is a hay rake, used to rake hay into rows for baling. Can you see the design?
