Scrappy Cabin Rose Course

“Glow Rose” Version Kit

Grab your overflowing scrap bins and join Rachelle for a quilty adventure in creating your own scrappy log cabin rose blocks!

At the end of this course, you will have learned how to make a ~12″ x 12″ scrappy rose block.

Supply List*:

  • Approximately 1/3 to 1/2 yard of fabric scraps in the color(s) of your choice
  • One (1) ~13″ x 13″ piece of neutral print foundation fabric
  • Printed copy of “Polygon Templates” file
  • Rotary cutter or fabric scissors
  • Basic sewing machine
  • Neutral colored thread
  • Iron & ironing board
  • Cutting Mat
  • Glue stick

Beginner Quilting - Pretty Patches Quilt

What You Will Learn in this Course:

Background Info – (Basic supplies, Quilting Terms, Yardage vs precuts)

Prepare to Start – ( Reading Patterns, Color)

Cutting – (Ruler reading, Safe cutting practices, Sub-cutting,  Focus cut / scrappy)

Piecing – (1/4″ seam, Nesting seams, Pinning, Chain piecing, Pressing technique)

Preparing to Quilt – (Choosing batting, Quilt sandwich, Basting; spray vs pins, Marking quilt lines)

Quilting & Binding – (Easy Quilting Designs, Adding a label, Binding)

We will be making a 20″ quilted wall hanging during the course.

Pattern will be provided before class.

Beginner Foundation Paper Piecing (FPP)

What You Will Learn in this Course:

  •       Two (2) FPP methods; on copy paper and using freezer paper
  • Advantages / disadvantages of FPP versus traditional piecing
  • Choosing the fabrics for your project
  • Printing and duplicating FP foundations
  • Scaling FPP foundations
  • How to use directional fabrics
  • How to deal with irregular shapes
  • Project ideas for using your finished pieces

We will be making two (2) 12″ blocks during the course. The Urza Star and The Keystone Star.

Pattern will be provided before class.
