Becket Quilt Pattern

Becket is my first “intermediate” skill level pattern, but is still accessible for the advanced beginner who has mastered half square triangles and would like a new challenge.

The elongated Carpenter’s Square block provides a fun optical issusion! The pattern comes in wall, crib, throw, and large throw sizes in both rainbow and 2-color versions.

The pattern is fat eighth, fat quarter, and yardage friendly!

Beginner Quilting - Pretty Patches Quilt

What You Will Learn in this Course:

Background Info – (Basic supplies, Quilting Terms, Yardage vs precuts)

Prepare to Start – ( Reading Patterns, Color)

Cutting – (Ruler reading, Safe cutting practices, Sub-cutting,  Focus cut / scrappy)

Piecing – (1/4″ seam, Nesting seams, Pinning, Chain piecing, Pressing technique)

Preparing to Quilt – (Choosing batting, Quilt sandwich, Basting; spray vs pins, Marking quilt lines)

Quilting & Binding – (Easy Quilting Designs, Adding a label, Binding)

We will be making a 20″ quilted wall hanging during the course.

Matrikin is a fun, strip pieced quilt that comes in six sizes (crib, lap, throw, twin, queen, and king. 4-Color and 8-color directional & non-directional versions are included.

Garner is a 5, 6, 13, or 18 fat quarter friendly pattern (excluding the background) that comes in four (4) sizes: crib, lap, throw, and large throw.

Scraps from the FQs can be used for a scrappy binding. There are NO small HSTs to make!

The blocks can be arranged in many different variations for an

optional “choose your own adventure” layout.

Beginner Foundation Paper Piecing (FPP)

What You Will Learn in this Course:

  •       Two (2) FPP methods; on copy paper and using freezer paper
  • Advantages / disadvantages of FPP versus traditional piecing
  • Choosing the fabrics for your project
  • Printing and duplicating FP foundations
  • Scaling FPP foundations
  • How to use directional fabrics
  • How to deal with irregular shapes
  • Project ideas for using your finished pieces

We will be making two (2) 12″ blocks during the course. The Urza Star and The Keystone Star.

Iterate is a fun, strip pieced quilt pattern that comes in a fat quarter friendly 40″ square crib size or a 69″ square throw size. Instructions are provided for multi-color, 2-color, and scrappy versions.

For those who may be weary of how complex it looks, optional cutting labels are included to help you stay organized as you work thru each step.

Amplify is a strip pieced, confident beginner friendly quilt pattern.

It finishes at 64″ x 64″ 

All of the blocks have the same composition, but increase in size as you move towards the middle of the quilt.
